 This course aims to facilitate knowledge on how to recognise common early warning signs for a number of different conditions, and to enable staff to learn the importance of assessing, responding and effectively managing deterioration in health & well-being

COURSE OUTLINE

  • To explain the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) inc. update 2017:   new-onset confusion (delirium)
  • To discuss risk factors, causes, symptoms and prevention of delirium
  • To learn early warning signs for several conditions
  • -Urinary Tract Infections
  • -Aspirational Pneumonia
  • -Stroke
  • -Heart attack
  • -Dementia
  • -Diabetes
  • -Dehydration
  • -Constipation
  • To describe accountabilities and responsibilities in relation to timely and effective responses to early warning signs of deterioration in health and well-being for the people we care and support
  • To understand the issues relating to physical healthcare and aging and the importance of reporting concerns
 It is recommended that this course may be delivered alongside 'Clinical Observations' as a separate session
