Meeting with Jerome Mayhew: Addressing the Challenges in Social Care

Last Friday, we had the privilege of meeting with Jerome Mayhew, MP for Breckland and Broadland, to discuss the ongoing challenges within the social care sector and the urgent need for greater government support.

As a family-led training provider, we are deeply committed to equipping care professionals with the skills and confidence needed to deliver high-quality care. However, like many others in the sector, we face barriers such as limited funding, a lack of training allowances, and difficulties in staff retention. Our conversation with Jerome focused on the critical need for more investment in these areas to ensure a sustainable and thriving care workforce.

Empowering Leaders & New Entrants in Care

We took the opportunity to present two key training programmes that we believe can make a meaningful impact:

1️⃣ "Leading with Confidence" – Led by Joanne, a Specialist Advisor to the CQC, this programme is designed to empower managers and leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to drive excellence in care services. Leadership in social care is often overlooked, yet it is crucial in maintaining high standards and ensuring regulatory compliance.

2️⃣ Carer Development & Support for School Leavers – A tailored programme aimed at supporting young professionals entering the care sector, helping them navigate their new roles, understand regulations, and build a foundation for a rewarding career in care.

A Call for More Local Support

We believe that investing in training is one of the most effective ways to strengthen the sector and improve care quality. We would love to see more funding from local authorities to support training initiatives that empower both new and experienced care professionals.

Moreover, we are always looking for ways to collaborate and offer our expertise where needed. If there are any initiatives that we can support within the sector, we are eager to contribute in any way possible.

Our conversation with Jerome Mayhew was a step in the right direction, and we are hopeful that discussions like these will lead to tangible improvements in social care. We will continue advocating for the support that care professionals deserve, ensuring they have the tools and resources to provide outstanding care.

📢 Let's Keep the Conversation Going! We welcome any thoughts, feedback, or ideas on how we can work together to drive positive change in the social care sector. Let’s continue pushing for the recognition and investment that this vital industry deserves.
