We're thrilled to be working with Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board (ICB) and the Univerisyt of East Anglia to deliver a fully funded Hydration Training Programme, designed to support healthcare professionals and carers across the region. This initiative comes at a crucial time when proper hydration is increasingly recognised as a cornerstone of good health, particularly for vulnerable populations.
Why Hydration Matters
Hydration is essential for maintaining overall health and wellbeing. Adequate fluid intake is vital for cognitive function, maintaining energy levels, and supporting various bodily functions such as circulation, temperature regulation, and digestion. In vulnerable groups such as the elderly or those with chronic illnesses, the importance of hydration becomes even more critical, as they are at a higher risk of dehydration-related complications.
Dehydration can lead to serious health issues, including urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and in severe cases, can even contribute to confusion and falls. By educating healthcare workers and carers on the importance of hydration, we aim to improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden on health services.
What Our Hydration Training Programme Offers
Our Hydration Training Programme, commissioned by Norfolk and Waveney ICB, is tailored to equip healthcare professionals and carers with the knowledge and skills they need to promote and maintain adequate hydration in those they care for. The training covers:
Understanding the Importance of Hydration: Delving into the science of hydration and its role in maintaining health.
Recognising Signs of Dehydration: How to identify early signs of dehydration in different populations.
Strategies for Promoting Hydration: Practical tips and techniques to encourage adequate fluid intake, especially in individuals who may be resistant or have difficulty drinking.
Fully Funded and Accessible
Thanks to the funding provided by Norfolk and Waveney ICB, this valuable training is available at no cost to learners who work with Elderly patients in Health and Social Care. We understand the challenges faced by healthcare professionals, especially in today’s demanding environment, so we’ve ensured that the programme is accessible and flexible. Training sessions can be delivered in-person or online, depending on what suits your team best.
